Dr. Harris provides senior leadership for the strategic use of information technology (IT) resources in support of the mission and goals of the university. He works closely with the provost and deans, as well as administrative leaders in formulating options, facilitating decision-making processes, determining projects, and managing and setting priorities for Information Services at the UO.
During his twenty-five year career in higher education, Dr. Harris has served in both information technology divisions and as a member of the faculty. His work in IT organizations included positions at Pepperdine University, the University of Maryland, and The University of Memphis. His faculty experience includes adjunct appointments at the Pepperdine University School of Business and Management, The University of Memphis School of Business, and a full-time tenured appointment at Messiah College.
Dr. Harris holds a doctorate from the Claremont Graduate University, and bachelor's and master's degrees from Biola University. His work at Claremont focused on the use of computer-based financial models and decision support systems. He was vice provost for information technology and chief information officer at Emory University before coming to UO.
