Technology for Teaching/Learning & Research

Information technology enables everything else that happens at the university. IT cuts across all disciplines, all fields, all operations. To give the gift that touches every student and faculty member and resesarcher at the University, consider a donation to the technology that drives teaching, learning and research.

Innovative Technology Fund

This fund will be used to purchase technology resources for faculty and students. Examples of purchases include specialized equipment for computer or collaboration labs, software requested by faculty for particular courses, or needs not covered in other project descriptions. This project will be identified on the UO Online Giving webpage and gifts in any amount will be welcome.

Computer or Collaboration Labs and Teaching Spaces

Funds will be used for showcase opportunities where space design, furniture, collaborative technology, and other factors provide an environment that allows students to work individually or in small groups. Gifts at the $10,000 level and above are encouraged, and naming opportunities are available.

Student Programs

student programs

A number of opportunities are available that directly benefit students. Examples include the "Instructional Technology Fellows" to fund graduate students who support faculty in specific disciplines; and "Undergraduate Fellows" who work in Information Services. Gifts at $1,000 and above are encouraged with naming opportunities possible.

Faculty Programs

Programs that would provide direct support for faculty include: a course buyout program that allows faculty to develop courses that use innovative technology; "Innovative Technology Awards" given to faculty who excel in utilizing technology in teaching; and the purchase of resources that would be available to all faculty to support their research work. Gifts at the $5,000 level and above are encouraged with naming opportunities possible.

Sustainability

There are many opportunities to utilize computing technology in sustainability initiatives. One program utilizes computer virtualization technology to provide services to faculty and graduate students so that they don't need to purchase their own equipment. Such programs provide efficient use of computing technology while reducing the carbon footprint of the university. Gifts at the $10,000 level and above are encouraged with naming opportunities possible.
