The University of Oregon has purchased
a site license for McAfee's VirusScan®
Enterprise for Windows and Macintosh. This license allows us to
distribute this software free of charge to current UO students,
faculty and staff for use both at home and work. Too often we are
called upon to help users fix computers that are nearly useless
due to spyware and virus infections. We strongly recommend that
you install VirusScan® to protect yourself before you
lose valuable time and data.
Please install and run only one antivirus product
at a time.
Windows
McAfee VirusScan® Enterprise 8.5i requires
Windows 2000, XP, 2003 or Vista for both desktops and servers.
System requirements:
- Pentium or Celeron processor running a minimum of 166MHz
- Minimum of 32MB of RAM (512MB or more recommended)
- Minimum 150MB free disk space
- Windows XP Home and Professional SP2, or
- Windows 2000 Professional SP3 or later
Windows 95, 98 and ME users: VirusScan 8.5 will
not run on these versions of Windows. You will need to upgrade
to Windows XP or newer.
Macintosh
McAfee VirusScan® Enterprise 8.5 requires
MacOS X 10.4 or later. For MacOS X 10.3 and older use Virex® 7.7
with Patch 1.
