To configure Microsoft Outlook 2007:
- Start Outlook
- From the "Tools" menu, select "Account Settings "
- Click the "New..." button
- Enter your name in the Your Name box
- In the "E-mail Address" box enter your email address
- (Optional) Enter your Duck ID password in the Password box
- Click the "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" check box
- Click the "Next >" button
- Select "Internet E-mail" and click the "Next >" button
- For Server Type select "IMAP"
- In the Incoming mail server box enter "imap.uoregon.edu"
- In the Outgoing server (SMTP) box enter "smtp.uoregon.edu"
- (Optional) In the Password box enter your Duck ID password
- Click the "More Settings..." button
- Click the "Advanced" tab
- Under "Incoming server (IMAP)" set "Use the following type of encrypted connection" to "SSL"
- Click the OK button
How to enable SMTP Authentication
- Start Outlook
- From the "Tools" menu, select "Account Settings "
- Select your account and click "Change..."
- Click the "More Settings..." button
- Click the "Advanced" tab
- Under "Outgoing server (SMTP)" set "Use the following type of encrypted connection" to "TLS"
- Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab
- Click the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" check box
- Click the "OK" button
- Click the "Next >" button
- Click the "Finish" button
- Click the "Close" button
