Login Information

At the UO, you have two sets of login infomation. The first is your UO ID and PAC and the second is your Duck ID and password.

  Duck ID + password UO ID number + PAC
Format Duck ID username is the first part of your email address
Password is at least 8 characters
UO ID number begins with "95" and is exactly nine digits long

DuckWeb

DuckWeb is an interactive web application. With DuckWeb, you can upload & check grades, check payroll and pay bills. In a nutshell, DuckWeb serves as the central management application for everything related to class managment and finances.

UOnet (wireless internet)

To connect to the UOnet, select the "uowireless" network and open a browser window. You will be directed to a page to enter your Duck ID and password. Upon a sucessful login, you will be directed to the UO home page. For more information on internet access, visit the IT internet access page.

Laptop Buyers’ Guide

Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Use VPN when you are using a computer off-campus and need to access an electronic resource that is restricted to on-campus access only. Communication between your computer and the remote VPN hardware is encrypted.

Blackboard

Blackboard is a web-based course management system. It can be used to distribute class materials such as assignments, notifications and grades. It also provides online tools such as a calendar and address book.

Available Software

Site Licensed Software & Volume License Purchases

Select software packages are licensed for use by all University of Oregon students, faculty, and staff. Home use is permitted on some. For more information, please see: http://it.uoregon.edu/help/sitelicense.shtml

Information Services also coordinates a number of volume software purchases for participating units and departments, including the ESRI GIS, LabVIEW, Mathematica, MATLAB, MathType, McAfee Antivirus, AutoDesk (AutoCAD), SAS statistical software, DeepFreeze, Ghost, Uniprint.

Duckware (Free Anti-virus and other software)

UO site-licensed software are available for UO students, staff, faculty and researchers at no charge. The discs contain McAfee anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-phishing applications for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems, Adobe Reader, the UO VPN client, and other applications commonly used by the UO campus community.

The Collaboration Centers offer SMART Boards, videoconferencing (up to 6 locations), and comfortable furniture for small group brainstorming, project work and presentation rehearsals. The UO offers serveral labs that are available to faculty, staff and students. The labs are equipped with printing and course related software. For more information on the computing labs (including software available, hours and locations), visit the computing lab site.

Videoconferencing

Free high-definition videoconferencing – connecting up to 6 locations simultaneously – is also available on a drop-in or by appointment basis in the McKenzie and EMU Collaboration Centers. Contact: collab-mckenzie@uoregon.edu, (541) 346-4406.

Digital Toolbox – a technical reference library

Current researchers, students, faculty and staff may check out current technical references, manuals and trade magazines. The staff also researches and purchases new current media, including books, DVDs, and magazine subscriptions that are relevant to technology. Purchase suggestions should be sent to helpdesk@uoregon.edu.

Researchers, students, faculty and staff can use SMART Boards, (interactive whiteboards), for instruction, small group brainstorming, group work and presentations. CMET Consulting

CMET Consulting provides help for members of the UO community in both their research and their teaching. Services include educational technology training and consulting for faculty members and GTFs, and the Blackboard course management system. CMET frequently receive requests for Powerpoint, Blackboard and digitizing media for classroom use. Clickers are a being adopted in class and are best way to receive immediate feedback from students during instruction.

Teaching Effectiveness Program

The Teaching Effectiveness Program offers a variety of activities and services to engage the academic community focus on teaching and learning, obtaining feedback on their teaching performance, and improving undergraduate instruction. TEP services are free to all who teach— faculty members, graduate teaching fellows (GTFs), staff and university departments. All consultations and midterm feedback services are confidential.
