Obtaining Software

The Mathematica software can be downloaded and an activation key can be obtained from the Wolfram user portal.  The link to the portal and activation keys to older versions of Mathematica are available under "Software Available for Download" below.  If you prefer to install Mathematica 7.0.1, installation CDs can be checked out from the Information Services Help Desk (151 McKenzie Hall). These CDs can be checked out for 24 hours with a current UO ID card.  Students may purchase a copy of Mathematica for their personal computers at http://www.wolfram.com/products/student/mathforstudents/licenses.html.

Mathematica renews annually in June and users will need to request a new authorization code each year after the software renews.  The new authorizaiton code will be available in the download section below or you can email sitelisn@uoregon.edu. 

Note:  Mathematica 7.0.1 has 2 sets of CDs for each operating system.  One set of CDs is for use on-campus use only and can be checked out by faculty, staff and students.  Authorization codes for on-campus use are included on the CDs and can also be acquired by emailing sitelisn@uoregon.edu.  The other set of CDs is for use home use and can be checked out by faculty and staff only.  Authorization codes for home use must be acquired from the Wolfram web site: http://www.wolfram.com/siteinfo/.  Please check with your departmental representative or email sitelisn@uoregon.edu for the License Number which may be required for installation. 

Licensing and Restrictions

  • Mathematica is available for UO faculty, staff and student use on UO computers for instructional/academic research purposes only. 
  • The Mathematica software must be installed on computers owned by the user who checked out the software license.
  • Distributing, publishing, renting or selling the software is prohibited. Modifying the software in any way or removing trademarks is prohibited. 
  • Home use is allowable for faculty and staff only.  Contact your departmental representative or email sitelisn@uoregon.edu for instructions.
