How do I enable Shell access?

Shell access is disabled by default for all accounts created after Spring Term 2009.

To enable shell access for your account, perform the following steps:

1. Navigate to http://duckid.uoregon.edu and login using your Duck ID and password

2. After login you will see this menu. Click on the “Manage optional account access” link.

3. Click on the button “Enable shell access”

4. When you see the message, “Access to a campus shell account has been granted” you are finished.

You can now use any ssh client to log in to shell.uoregon.edu or hpc.uoregon.edu. For help on how to log in to Shell, see How to Log into Shell.
