IMAP, POP and SMTP Settings

This list of settings is for advanced users who know how to configure email software and simply need the university-specific server information.

  • POP: pop.uoregon.edu
  • IMAP: imap.uoregon.edu
  • SMTP (outgoing mail): smtp.uoregon.edu

Exchange Settings

If you are a faculty or staff member working in an area that uses Microsoft Exchange for e-mail, please contact your local IT support staff for details on how to configure Microsoft Outlook for your Exchange environment.

Security (SSL) Required

The University of Oregon requires secure connections (using SSL) to retrieve mail from UOregon servers. IMAP with SSL uses port 993 and POP with SSL uses port 995.

For more information, see Configuring Your E-mail Program.

Traveling?

You can use the university's outgoing mail (SMTP) server from anywhere on the internet. Set your SMTP server to "smtp.uoregon.edu", enable SSL, and set the port to 587. (If 587 is not working, please try port 465). Your username and password are the same as your DuckID and password.

Some email programs require a slightly different configuration. For directions on how to set up a specific program, see our email program configuration page linked above.
