Help Desk changes name to Technology Service Desk

This past summer, we began the process of changing our name from Information Services Help Desk to Information Services Technology Service Desk. At that time, we also changed our email address from to Our phone number, 6-HELP, and location, 151 McKenzie Hall, remain the same. (Update 8/31/16: The Technology Service Desk is now located in the Computing Center.)

These changes not only bring the new Technology Service Desk name, but a new philosophy for how we will operate. In September, Information Service launched the IT Service Management (ITSM) program using the ITIL framework. Within ITSM, a service desk functions as, "the single point of contact between the service provider and the users. A typical service desk manages incidents and service requests, and also handles communication with the users."

In short, over time the Technology Service Desk will become the front door for Information Services. We will still provide the same services that we provided in the past, but we will also be interfacing more with you, our customers and users.
