Preview new IT service portal at May and June demos

The UO campus community is invited to attend demonstrations of the new IT service portal in May and June 2017. The service portal — a new website for UO tech support — will be launched in August 2017 at
You'll have three opportunities to see the demo:
  • Thursday, May 25, 8:30am-10am — EMU Crater Lake South
  • Wednesday, May 31, 9:30am-11am — Knight Library Browsing Room
  • Friday, June 9, 2pm-3:30pm — Jaqua Center Auditorium
All staff, faculty, and students are welcome at these events. IT staff are particularly encouraged to attend. The three events will cover the same content.

What is will provide a new way of getting tech support on campus. You will be able to use the service portal to:
  • Contact IT staff for tech support
  • Learn about IT services offered on campus
  • Find step-by-step DIY solutions to tech problems

Which departments will be using

In August, the following four departments will start using for tech support:
  • Information Services, including the Technology Service Desk—serving all UO students and employees
  • School of Architecture & Allied Arts (soon to be the College of Design)
  • School of Journalism & Communication
  • Student Life
Additional departments are expected to start using in the future.

A new way to get tech support

Are you used to getting tech support by sending an email to the Technology Service Desk? Or are you in one of the departments listed above?
If so, we will be asking you to change the way you ask for tech support. Rather than sending us an email, we will be asking you to contact us through webforms at While this is a significant change, the shift to gathering more information up front will facilitate faster and more accurate resolution of your tech problems.
