Webmail is a great way to read your University of Oregon e-mail using a web browser from any computer. Because it's similar to other webmail services such as Google and Yahoo it's the fastest to learn.
To log in to webmail, visit webmail.uoregon.edu and enter your Duck ID and password.
If you're already familiar with Webmail, read about Webmail's advanced features.
When you log in the first page you will see is your inbox. Here you can read, delete, move, and compose e-mail. You can also access your address book and e-mail preferences.
To read a message, click on it. The body of the message will appear below the list. To view only that e-mail, double click on it in the message list. To return to that mailbox, click the green arrow.
Check for new messages
Webmail automatically checks for new messages every 60 seconds. Webmail will notify you as new messages arrive. To check more frequently, click on the “Refresh” icon at the left of the toolbar at the top of the window.
Create a New Message
To compose a message click on the “Compose” icon, located near the left end of the itoolbar at the top of the window. This will open the compose message page.
There are a couple of ways to add contacts to the email you are composing.
- Simply start typing the recipients first name or email address into the "To" field. A list matching that person's name or email address will appear. Select the correct entry.
- Another way is to use the column to the left labeled "Contacts". Select the contact located in either the "Personal Addresses" group or the "UO LDAP" group, then select the "To", "Cc", or "Bcc" button to insert the contact in the corresponding field. (Note: this applies to the UO theme only)
To attach a file, click the paper clip icon on the top center of the window. Select the file to attach. Click the "Send Message" button to send the message.
To move a message to a new folder drag it from the message list to the folder of your choice. To move multiple messages, shift-click to select a range of messages and drag the selected set to the destination folder.
To move a non-contiguous set of messages, command-click (Mac OS X) or control-click (Windows) on each message to select the group, then drag the set to the destination folder.
To close webmail, click the logout button in the upper right corner of the window.
